Our History

Founded in 2013 by longtime dialysis patient Velma Collins, the Kalamazoo Area Renal Support Group started humbly as a gathering of patients discussing their shared experiences. When Velma’s vision of the group started to grow, she asked Mitchell Broach to be the president, but he declined in favor of Anthony Brown.  Brown, a 17 year veteran of dialysis whose career in IT gave him the experience and the knowledge about the resources available on the internet for those dealing with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

With Brown’s guidance as president, the Kalamazoo Area Renal Support Group has flourished becoming a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity.
